| MintoYorkville, Toronto's
preeminent deluxe rental property, was recognized with an
Award of Excellence at the Urban Development Institute's President's
Dinner May 2004. MintoYorkville was singled out for its leading edge energy
and environmental excellence in the sustainable design of the building.
Some of the specific design attributes that were highlighted included
the advanced building automation system that ensures optimum climate
control, the high efficiency lighting and appliances, the advanced
occupancy-based temperature control in each suite, the motion-based
stairwell and corridor lighting control, the individual suite metering
with "all-off" lighting controls, as well as many other
environmentally conscious initiatives.
Compared to a typical condominium high rise, MintoYorkville is
achieving a 22% reduction in energy/water consumption. Carbon dioxide
emissions have been reduced by 650 tonnes, representing the equivalent
of the benefit achieved from planting 70,000 trees!
This award highlights Minto's continuing committment to environmental
stewardship and leadership in building construction.
